Wally Lopez was born in San Blas (Madrid) in 1976 and from an early age he developed a passion for music and radio. Many know him for his great gifts on the decks, his fiestas in Space and his bill of hits like “Noche Sin Luna” or the recent “Love ‘N’ Music” with vocalist Ron Carroll. Also on his CV are remixes for the biggest names in house such as Tiësto, Bob Sinclar and David Guetta. Besides winning the hearts of the public, Wally has also captivated pop artists such as Madonna, Ricky Martin and Miguel Bosé, with all whom he has shared the stage. Brands such as Oakley, Pioneer and Vueling have also trusted in him for their advertising campaigns. What’s more he runs his own company Factomania, designs his own fashion line (Tremenda Wear) and drives his radio programme on Maxima FM radio that reaches more than 700,000 listeners worldwide. It’s not strange to see him year after year in the charts of the best DJs in the world.

“I started in radio at 13 years old. Later I discovered house music and I fell in love with it,” he recalls. 2013 is a year of change for Wally Lopez. Firstly because he is going to be a father and secondly, because he has changed his residence in Space for Blue Marlin. “I will play there each Thursday and that makes me very happy,” he admits. Even though he confesses his love for Ibiza, the memory of the first time he played here is not so rosy. “It was at El Divino and it was terrible (he laughs). I swore I would never return! Obviously it was with the wrong people in the wrong time and place. But I quickly erased that bad experience from my memory. Months later I played at Pacha and my whole perception changed.” Since then his love affair with Ibiza has been indestructible, so much so that he now plans to come to live on the island:” I want my future child growing up here. I feel infinite love for this wonderful island.”

Wally takes with him great memories of his time at Space. “I have thousands of stories,” he says. “For example, I remember fondly the Opening last year. In half an hour I filled the parking lot with 5,000 people. It was amazing! I’ll always remember as well the back to back with Danny Tenaglia.” There is no doubt that Wally is synonymous of vitality and good vibrations and this is demonstrated as much in his day to day outlook as in the DJ booth: “With my music I want to convey joy and positive messages,” he says.

Wally Lopez knows the island well and doesn’t hesitate to share some of his favourite places with us. “To meditate and regenerate, there’s nothing better than a daily walk along the beach of Talamanca. It brings me great peace.” And where to eat or drink? “For breakfast, Hostal Talamanca and Sa Calma. To eat: Yemanya, for dinner B.For and to have a drink Blue Marlin and Lio.”

We’ll follow that advice.
