She was in Ibiza a year ago, as the support act for the Pussycat Dolls at their gig on Poker Island. Then in August, ‘Pokerface’ singer Lady Gaga was back. Pete Tong had invited her to his Wonderland Party at Eden, in San Antonio.
Her performance was more circus than concert because, as so often before, her skimpy stage outfit just could not contain her. Nipplegate ensued. This was quite a scandal for San Antonio! Contrary to her usual practice of securing said nipples with black tape, she had (deliberately?) omitted to bring any with her to laidback Ibiza. When she began feeling her crotch à la Michael Jackson, the British press went into a frenzy of speculation the next day. Was Lady Gaga a hermaphrodite, perhaps?
Even before the show, they had criticised Pete Tong, saying that pop artist Lady Gaga wasn’t right for Wonderland. When IBIZA STYLE spoke to him he said simply: “I don’t understand all the fuss. It was a real coup to get her to come to Ibiza. Lots of other stars have said they will, then cancelled at the last minute, whereas she wanted to put on a show for people in Ibiza and that’s what she did. I just try to get unusual acts to come to Wonderland.” Well, Pete – you certainly did that! San Antonio was in a state of emergency and Eden, like Lady Gaga herself, was bursting at the seams. Simply gaga – beautiful, dirty and rich.

This year it will be 40 years since the first fashion show that gave rise to Pasarela Adlib. To celebrate it, the Island Council has organised an exhibition that it has called 'The Adlib Revolution'.
