Playa den Bossa is Ibiza's longest beach with superb sand that slopes gently into the sea. The most attractive and widest stretch is at the furthest end from the town near Torre de Sal Rossa. This is where the exclusive Nassau Beach Club is to be found. Formerly a Spanish beach restaurant known as the Nassau, it is since undergone major renovation.
Something of a novelty for Ibiza are the broad teakwood beach recliners with their comfy cushions. They are for hire at very reasonable rates and they also come with a parasol. The large lounge extends out onto the beach and is separated from the restaurant by a gigantic bar. The highly professional bar staff here will mix you an outstanding cocktail. Alongside the many first-class champagnes, they also stock Perrier Jouët Belle Epoque in jeroboam bottles (i.e. the 3-litre size), the only establishment in Spain to do so.
A stylish touch is the uniforms worn by the staff – specially designed by Roberto Cavalli. And obviously, you'll find his own-brand vodka here – in the summer months, you may even bump into the famous designer in person. Next to the bar, the legendary DJ Zappi operates the turntables. Credited by many as the guiding spirit behind the Ibiza Lounge and Chill sound, he regales the beach with cool music seven days a week. If you want to go for the full relaxation package, you can even get a massage on the beach and, of course, order food and drink to be brought out to you. It goes without saying that there is also a delivery service for yacht owners.
From the stylishly furnished restaurant, your gaze sweeps across the beach out to sea where ferries, cruisers and yachts crisscross the horizon, and in the distance you can see the outline of Dalt Vila. Specialities here include fresh fish, langoustines and lobster from the restaurant's own tank plus a great line in salads. The service by good-looking, friendly waitresses definitely has the wow factor. The restaurant continues to offer one of the best paellas around.
The Nassau Beach Club is very conveniently situated for both Ibiza Town and the airport and has rapidly built up an affluent and international clientele – quite a few celebrities have been spotted here.
No, no, no. We are neither trying to be nostalgic nor debating the virtues of analogic vs digital again but simply informing you that every Thursday in the bar of Las Dalias you have the chance to dust down the vinyl collection...
Cala Bassa is in the news this month and not precisely because it is the best moment to enjoy the beach from one of CBBC beachbeds – which are fantastic – but because of the arrival of the City of Ibiza quadriathlon to celebrate its 12th edition.
This year it will be 40 years since the first fashion show that gave rise to Pasarela Adlib. To celebrate it, the Island Council has organised an exhibition that it has called 'The Adlib Revolution'.
The best thing is to be an electronic music fanatic and to discover in person how, when, and why Luciano, Carl Cox and Oakenfold managed to become what they are.
The direction taken by the legendary multi-purpose venue last summer pointed to interesting changes with respect to its becoming a platform for music, art, fashion and gastronomy.
