In case there is anyone out there who still believes otherwise, the International Club de Gourmets de Ibiza is not a ‘closed shop’. Its regular meetings that take place in different top restaurants around the Island are open to everyone who enjoys food and drink at its best.

Asparagus festival @ restaurant marc's
The first event on the Club’s calendar for 2010 is scheduled for Thursday 27th May at marc’s, the newly opened restaurant on the Jesús to Can Furnet and Cala Llonga road. The evening will in part be a homage to that most exquisite of vegetables harvested at this time of year – the asparagus. But the team at marc’s won’t be dishing up just any old asparagus – they will be flying in a fresh crop straight from Marc Lindemann's native region of Burgdorf near Hannover in Germany, considered by many connoisseurs to be home to the finest and most aromatic asparagus grown anywhere on the planet.
After an aperitif and an amuse-gueule, we will start on a Carpaccio of smoked swordfish served with asparagus salad.
Next comes a cream of asparagus soup with langoustine ravioli followed by an asparagus sorbet in Veuve Clicquot champagne.
The main dish is a choice between fresh Burgdorf asparagus with fillet of Scottish wild salmon and lime hollandaise or with fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef and Choron sauce.
To round off the menu, there will be compote of rhubarb with fresh strawberries and asparagus-flavoured ice cream.
The price, including wines to accompany each dish, is 69 euros per person. Reservations should be made by 24th May at the latest on this number: 971 316 245
