Hotel Mirador Dalt Vila To provide discerning guests

Charismatic, sophisticated and exclusive – this is how interior designers Vicente Mari and Juan Ribas describe the 5-star Hotel Mirador Dalt Vila which opened in early July.
The team from Vivenda interior design took three years to plan the refurbishment of this former private residence on the Plaza Alfonso XIII.
In 1904, D José Cardona of the illustrious Ibicenco Fajarnés Cardona family bought the house at an auction from the mayor at that time, Bartolomé Roselló, paying the knock-down price of 1,150 pesetas. The building represents an architectural style that was fashionable in the Island at the start of the 20th century, incorporating plenty of Colonial features but also some classical motifs such as organic ornamentation.
The Mirador is located in the heart of Ibiza Town, an area designated by UNESCO in 1999 as a World Heritage Site. The two-man design team tells us that the restoration work undertaken by private investors is in keeping with the overall programme for rehabilitation of the Old Town and is playing an important part in both enhancing and reviving this particular area.
"The hotel provides discerning guests with an all-year-round alternative to the uniformly anonymous beachside hotels," says Mari emphatically. In the 13 rooms there is a mixture of modern and neo-classical decor. "For sheer elegance and historical cachet, the Mirador currently surpasses all other hotels in this price bracket here in Ibiza," Ribas tells us. Much of the furniture such as the Imperial tables, sculptures and Isabelline consoles plus the 80 paintings belonged to the original owners, the Fajarnés family. Modern pieces bear the signature of international designers such as Eve or Valentin. The 'Suite Superior' with its own private gym and terrace plus jacuzzi faces out onto the Town Hall Square. From this second-floor suite, guests can look out across the whole harbour. The hotel restaurant is also open to non-residents and offers a range of international and Mediterranean cuisine, including some Ibicenco specialities. Mari sums up the hotel's philosophy as follows: you should feel that you are personal guest of the master of the house, like a thoroughly pampered family friend.

No, no, no. We are neither trying to be nostalgic nor debating the virtues of analogic vs digital again but simply informing you that every Thursday in the bar of Las Dalias you have the chance to dust down the vinyl collection...
Cala Bassa is in the news this month and not precisely because it is the best moment to enjoy the beach from one of CBBC beachbeds – which are fantastic – but because of the arrival of the City of Ibiza quadriathlon to celebrate its 12th edition.
This year it will be 40 years since the first fashion show that gave rise to Pasarela Adlib. To celebrate it, the Island Council has organised an exhibition that it has called 'The Adlib Revolution'.
The best thing is to be an electronic music fanatic and to discover in person how, when, and why Luciano, Carl Cox and Oakenfold managed to become what they are.
The direction taken by the legendary multi-purpose venue last summer pointed to interesting changes with respect to its becoming a platform for music, art, fashion and gastronomy.
