Alvarno, Jorge V\u00e1zquez, Teresa Helbig, Andr\u00e9s Sard\u00e1 and Desigual were the highlights of the first edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week organised by IFEMA, Mercedes-Benz and Ushua\u00efa Ibiza. Five great Spanish fashion companies who presented their cruise wear collections for 2018 amid the luxurious surroundings of Ushua\u00efa Tower, under a scorching sun that the hotel\u2019s pool, with its impressive sea views in the background, could barely alleviate.<\/p>\n

It could be that the high temperatures and the fact that the event was early were the reasons for a number of notable absences at this fashion show, which is on its way to becoming one of the great annual events in Spanish fashion. Nonetheless, among the crowd could be seen well-known faces including Carlos Martorell, Macarena G\u00f3mez, Raica Oliveira, Rosa Clar\u00e1, Aldo Comas and Cathy Guetta, who hosted it.<\/p>\n

Desigual put its name to 20 highly eclectic looks that had a nomadic air and in which miniskirts, denim wear, asymmetrical pieces, embroidery and mini tops abounded. They started off a session that gathered momentum as the sun went down over the horizon. The \u201cHigh Season\u201d collection by Andr\u00e9s Sard\u00e1 focused on crochets, layering, transparent garments and sophisticated metallised swimwear and bikinis, along with exclusive pieces only available on request. Teresa Helbig presented \u201cSeven Seas-Good Vibes\u201d, \u201ceasy couture\u201d jewelled clothes where the highlight was mini-dresses, flowers and miniskirts combined with tall, coloured boots, features that brought back the island\u2019s utopian hippie past. If Helbig reminded us of the happy \u201960s, at sunset, Jorge V\u00e1zquez revealed a \u201970s-inspired collection full of jeans, denim and stitching for the daytime and wavy silk dresses for the nighttime, bohemian garments worn by models who knew how to transmit a much more festive spirit than their predecessors did. The Alvarno company rounded off an evening that exuded magic and glamour, bringing the fashion show to an end with its rocker attitude, animal patterns, see-through clothing and daring cuts, while accompanying their garments with jewels by Chopard, bags by Claudine (Laura Pons\u2019 firm) and by the music of the selfsame Black Coffee.<\/p>\n
