For Anjara Garc\u00eda, founder and designer of the luxury menswear brand Benibeca, the path has been anything but linear \u2013 guided by instinct and a constant urge to create. Her story is defined not only by resilience but by an ability to turn uncertainty into an energetic force: always evolving, continually redrawing its own map as it unfolds over time.<\/p>\n
Born in a small, unassuming town in Seville, far removed from the cultivated world she moves through today, her early life balanced freedom with responsibility. \u201cI had scraped knees constantly,\u201d she recalls, \u201calways getting into mischief, discovering a limitless world as an escape from my duties.\u201d By nine, she was already working in the family business, absorbing discipline while developing her own inner world shaped by observation and imagination. By ten, those forces merged: sewing alongside the grandmothers of her village, she played with fabric and form, where craft and curiosity met naturally, laying the foundations of the designer she would become.<\/p>\n
Fashion emerged early, though never in isolation. Alongside it came music. Drawn to the pulse of club culture, Anjara was captivated by spaces where rhythm replaced language and freedom was expressed through movement, sound, and atmosphere. By early adulthood, both worlds were unfolding in parallel \u2013 her fashion language edging towards the experiential, shaped by the raw energy of nightlife and the environments that surrounded it.<\/p>\n
A move to China followed, expanding her vision on a greater scale and unfolding into nearly twelve years in Shanghai \u2013 a period of intense creative and personal evolution. There, she built her brand internationally while music and DJing remained a private and personal pursuit. In a city where ambition and experimentation coexisted naturally, both became extensions of the same creative drive \u2013 fuelled by discipline, fascination, and exhilaration, each informing the other in subtle ways.<\/p>\n

What followed was a sudden and devastating collapse of the life she had built. Solid ground gave way with disorienting speed, leaving financial loss and a deeper erosion of trust, direction, and identity. \u201cOne day I had everything, and 24 hours later I woke up with a debt of more than \u20ac250,000,\u201d she says. Shaped by betrayal from her best friend and a deeply personal rupture of her business partner, it became a defining test of endurance that rarely announces itself \u2013 one that ultimately changed the course of her life.<\/p>\n
In the years that followed, menswear emerged not as a conceptual pivot but as a necessity. The decision allowed her to rebuild stability by producing for other brands while identifying a market gap. There were moments of distance, but also renewal \u2013 a gradual return of natural flow. With renewed conviction, confidence, and just \u20ac30,000, Anjara launched Benibeca in 2018, a label that has since grown into a layered, evolving vision with increasing international reach.<\/p>\n
Despite outward rebuilding, the internal work began only later in Ibiza, where she has been based for almost four years. \u201cI did not arrive on the island in search of escape or distraction, but in need of a healing I could not yet define,\u201d she says. Drawn into stillness after personal disappointment, the bravery to begin again, and the weight of the pandemic, she found a different kind of stillness. Repeated returns to Es Vedr\u00e0 evolved from habit into ritual, then refuge \u2013 a quiet recalibration. Life unfolded at a different rhythm, one she has not chosen to leave behind.<\/p>\n

From this shift and new connection to self, a distinct signature now runs through her work. A garment is never purely physical \u2013 it carries energy through its materials, construction, and the hands that shape it. Each piece is developed in her factory in Vietnam, in close collaboration with a trusted team, where craft and human connection remain inseparable. Designed to evolve with the wearer, garments soften and accumulate meaning over time. \u201cI design for a conscious man \u2013 someone grounded in values, confident yet sensitive, who connects rather than conquers, and leaves a mark through presence, not ego.\u201d<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, she is extending this philosophy beyond product into a new project in Ibiza \u2013 an environment rooted in Benibeca, conceived not as a traditional retreat but as an experiential, multi-dimensional space. Still in formation, it allows transformation to unfold naturally, reflecting a wider shift towards a more open, conscious, and expressive masculinity in both lifestyle and design.<\/p>\n
Today, Benibeca stands as a fully independent global brand \u2013 built without external investors, developed through international trade shows, and supported by steady online growth. It maintains a strong retail presence, including two flagship boutique stores in Ibiza, additional locations such as Mallorca, long-term curated pop-ups, and growing recognition in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
Within this, Anjara Garc\u00eda represents more than a designer; she embodies a rare entrepreneurial autonomy, defined by conviction as much as vision. What began as a collapse has been reshaped into form \u2013 not loss, but structure, clarity, and renewed momentum. And throughout, she continues to move with a sense of freedom \u2013 grounded in gratitude for the path she has travelled, and for a life newly shaped with intention.
