He launched his early career creating large-scale decorative panels for some of the world’s most iconic luxury spaces — from Louis Vuitton stores in Los Angeles and Shanghai to creative collaborations with Christian Dior, Peter Marino, and David Rockwell. Italian-born and now dividing his time between Los Angeles and Ibiza, Alex Turco is internationally recognised for pioneering his defining, multifaceted art discipline — coined on his own terms as “ARTDESIGNER.” A title that reflects his seamless blending of art and design into innovative, boundary-pushing creations.
His meticulous works, for which he is renowned, fuse photography, digital techniques, craftsmanship, and epoxy resin to create furnishings and architectural surfaces that effortlessly blur the line between form and function. Yet, since establishing himself in the refined sphere of art interiors — a striking and high-profile beginning — Turco has recently been drawn to something more grounded: a new kind of creative energy shaped by raw materials, which he now integrates into his latest design direction, giving his work a distinctly different essence.
Turco’s new grounded vision gave rise to OnlyOne, his latest collection — a series of textured wall art, sculptures, and custom-designed furniture infused with natural elements. And the name says it all: each piece is entirely unique, created from findings Turco personally gathers or interprets from his surroundings. “Everything I’m using comes from the island — salt, rocks, sand, sea sponges, and crusts of calcareous minerals,” he explains. “It’s not just inspiration, it’s collaboration — layered with organic memory.” Each work invites a tactile, immersive experience, encouraging the onlooker not merely to observe but to engage, feel, and connect with each piece on a deeply sensory level, offering an intimate dialogue between nature and craft.
Ibiza has become not only a physical space and a home to Turco and his wife but also a new creative compass. “After my beloved California, Ibiza is where I’ve found my deepest inspiration from nature,” he says. “I’ve returned many times to Playa Pou d’es Lleó to collect materials — slowly, a little at a time — from a rock face that still makes me emotional just thinking about it. It’s not easy to reach, but it’s incredibly special.” And this connection to the island’s unrefined beauty informs every detail of his art.

It’s clear Turco’s process is both instinctive and intimate. “Walking through the salt flats of Ibiza and Formentera, gathering sands of different textures, working with the clay found on certain beaches… exploring Ibiza is a constant search,” he explains. “I once discovered fragments of centuries-old wood abandoned near Santa Agnès — and even those, I gave new life to through an encasing medium.” This tactile, investigative approach is part of what transforms his pieces into modern relics — fragments of time, place, and the Earth’s ancestry — ready to be discovered anew.
The OnlyOne collection marks a distinct step toward a more personal, sensorial direction. Each piece carries the island’s imprint — literally. “When I close my eyes and think of Ibiza, the thing that comes to mind most often are the colours of sunrises and sunsets, which I’ve definitely transported into my series of artworks called Radiant within the collection,” he says. This emotive connection resonates through every textured surface and hue.
Turco continues to deepen his creative ties to Ibiza through a series of exclusive exhibitions and collaborations. In May 2023, he opened a new gallery space on the island to showcase OnlyOne. With open-air views and sand underfoot, the space reflects his desire to create not just an exhibition, but an absorbing environment, inviting visitors to experience art as part of the landscape.
His commitment to Ibiza is evidently not just work but deeply personal — rooted in a desire to contribute meaningfully to the island’s evolving cultural identity. “I want to create for a select group of discerning individuals who have a deep appreciation for high-quality, unique, and sophisticated art and design,” he shares. “I want to be the island’s accomplice, helping to bring her luxurious spirit into the homes of those who live here.”
His vision aligns perfectly with Ibiza’s growing embrace of high-level design, exemplified by his ongoing partnership with Sabina Estates, one of the island’s most ambitious architectural real estate and interior projects. For the past two years, Turco has hosted annual events at this design-led community, and he plans to continue the tradition, offering a rare glimpse into his world of extreme opulence and unreplicable artistry — that carries the very essence of nature, reminding us of our profound connection to the earth. Looking ahead, his bond with the island remains both open and reverent. “As for inspirations, oh my god, I hope to find so much more… as my love for this unique island is simply one of a kind.”
Moving forward, Turco’s next creative evolution marks a bold commitment to COLLECTABLE DESIGN — a space where his artistic language extends into sculptural furniture and functional objects. As a natural progression of the OnlyOne collection, these pieces will incorporate raw natural elements such as stones, split marble, and fragments gathered from the Ibizan landscape, seamlessly fused with metals and translucent layers of epoxy resin. “I want to create functional art,” Turco explains, “pieces that don’t just stand to be admired, but that live within the spaces people inhabit — enriching and elevating them.”
Furthermore, this October will see the launch of Turco’s first boutique gallery in Miami — a city selected for its rising status as a global nexus of contemporary art. Entirely dedicated to the project, the space will unveil never-before-seen works, including pieces crafted with materials sourced directly from the island of Ibiza. This opening marks a pivotal moment in Turco’s journey to redefine interiors as soulful, living expressions of both art and nature.
