Integrating her distinctive heritage and career narrative, artist and architect Gabriela Puig Soleille is set to reveal her groundbreaking project in Ibiza. She’s not just changing things up; she’s reshaping the island’s contemporary art scene.

Born in Mexico City, Gabriela’s story begins with a family deeply immersed in art and design. “My old granddad was a pioneer in the stained glass industry,” she tells me, her eyes lighting up with pride. “He transformed classic religious stained glass into contemporary art pieces, collaborating with some of the most incredible architects worldwide.” This legacy laid the foundation for Gabriela’s artistic journey. From these rich beginnings, she ventured into architecture, studying in Paris and later with a British thesis in various international locations such as Switzerland and Brazil. Her eclectic background has given her a unique perspective that defines her design philosophy. With her French education and Mexican heart, Gabriela’s passion for craftsmanship and creative expression vividly portrays a journey embodying a dynamic fusion of cultural and adept flavours.

Gabriela’s artistic philosophy is deeply influenced by past masters and a relentless drive to push parameters. “I’m very passionate, and I like to challenge the boundaries of creativity, drawing inspiration from Swiss, Mexican, and Brazilian architects,” she says, beaming with pride for Mexico’s thriving artistic scene. Her mission? To evoke emotions, ignite poetry, and create unique atmospheres in every project. This ethos spans various domains—hospitality, restaurants, private residences and retail spaces. “Any kind of project is open to pushing beyond design limits. I’m here to further those limits, focusing on attention to detail and revealing the poetry and magic of these spaces to execute the most incredible results.”

Collaboration is also at the heart of Gabriela’s creative process. “I enjoy collaborating with other artists, architects, and designers,” she says, emphasising that it’s not about the personal ego but the combination of reflections that create new results.

Gabriela’s career has taken her across the globe. She spearheaded luxury projects for Louis Vuitton, Dior, and a flagship venture for Fendi, bringing her style and vision to numerous international locations, including North America, Europe, Hawaii, Asia, and the Middle East. Each place adding a new layer of inspiration. Later, she co-founded brands like LA NENA Home and MODERN SHAPES––but more recently, her return to personal design creations has reignited her passion for pure artistry and her latest project in Ibiza.

Gabriela’s most recent venture is Maison Soleille—a sanctuary featuring international talents where art, collectable design pieces in architecture, bespoke fashion, technology and literature from around the globe converge. Maison Soleille stands at the intersection of extraordinary design and impeccable innovation. Each item reflects a commitment to exceptional quality and timeless elegance. This professional showroom and concept store promises a curated journey at the pinnacle of creativity, ensuring visitors a genuinely transformative experience. Here, interactive exhibitions and meticulously curated events are specifically designed to engage the senses, stimulate the imagination, and elevate the spirit––leaving a poetic impression of life and the world around us.

The essence of Maison Soleille “extends beyond its exquisite offerings and thrives on a collaborative spirit, fostering connections between artists, designers, collectors, and enthusiasts that spark dialogue, inspire and enrich the artistic landscape” –– she says. “It will be more than an art gallery; it’s a destination where art and design come to life. It will be a nexus for creative industries, bridging gaps between art, poetry, and technology”. Gabriela envisions the project as a platform to elevate standards, educate, and ignite passion—a testament to her unwavering dedication to her craft.

So why Ibiza? For Gabriela, the island is more than a location—it’s a muse. “Ibiza’s been leading me here for a long while, and its unique style resonates with my work,” she explains. The island’s international allure and forward-thinking lifestyle made it the perfect place to launch this new vision and platform. “Ibiza gives a lot of strength and power—human power, creativity,” she notes, highlighting how the “convergence of diverse universes on the island aligns perfectly with her creative goals”.

Looking ahead, Gabriela sees Ibiza as more than just a beautiful location—it’s a potential hub for future creatives. “I believe this platform will be the centre for the creatives of tomorrow,” she declares. With a blend of passion and love, a detailed eye for the big picture and intricate details, she is set to transform her vision into reality, opening in June 2024.

Beyond her artistic endeavours, Gabriela’s personal life exudes warmth and intrigue—like her mother’s maiden name, Soleille (meaning sun). Reflecting on her journey, she hints at surprises to come, teasing that Maison Soleille in Ibiza is just the beginning of her ambitious vision.

Gabriela Puig Soleille’s story concerns passion, heritage, and boundless creativity. With Maison Soleille, she invites the world to experience art in its purest form—a celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of creativity. Gabriela’s vision promises to leave an indelible mark on the global art scene as she takes the stage in Ibiza, illuminating future creators’ paths. The sun-drenched shores of Ibiza are about to witness the dawn of a new artistic era guided by the singular vision of Gabriela Puig Soleille––and we’re very excited indeed.
