Create the IBIZA STYLE MELODY

Ibiza Style, the prestigious lifestyle magazine of the Pitiusas, is launching a music competition in cooperation with Ibiza Global Radio (www.ibizaglobalradio.com): we are looking for an IBIZA STYLE song (both full length and radio versions). This will become the signature tune for all Ibiza Style events, advertising etc. We hereby call upon DJs and artists from the dance and electro scene to compose a song exclusively for us and to send it in. Its scope should cover the whole range, from lounge to house; in other words, include everything that is typical of Ibiza. The best track will become the official signature tune of Ibiza Style and will be played as a jingle on Ibiza Global Radio for all of our cooperative ventures and campaigns.

ERWIN BECHTOLD
A career in art

Some say that he is the best painter still actively plying his trade in Ibiza included – with the stress very much on the word ‘active’. Erwin Bechtold (born 1925 in Cologne) took up permanent residence here in 1958. Four years previously, he had already made what he describes as a horrendous ferry crossing from the mainland and had a rainy introduction to the island. Despite this inauspicious start, it was love at first sight.

Carl Cox

We met up with Carl Cox at the villa which Pepe Rosello regularly places at his disposal during the season. Carl feels really at home here and enjoys Pepe’s hospitality immensely. He jokingly comments: “I suppose I’ll be allowed to carry on living here as long as I keep mixing the music OK. If you ever find me back at the Hotel Marco Polo, you’ll know that I’ve blown it.” We’re sure it will never come to that.

Recovery of the valuable documentary legacy of Domingo Viñets has been possible thanks to Eivissa Municipal Archive of Image and Sound (AISME), where a good part of the extensive collection of photographs and postcards is kept, made up of hundreds of snapshots taken by the illustrious Catalan immigrant.
