With ‘Enter’, we step into a very special world created by Richie Hawtin. It is a fusion of music, technology, Japanese sake and design.

It’s no secret Richie Hawtin is a fierce advocate for pushing boundaries. You only have to see his alter ego, Plastikman, perform will attest to this. This summer it’s happening again. Having been an integral member of the Cocoon family for 12 years now, the Detroit techno innovator is venturing out with his first solo residency at Space and a visionary new project, ENTER.

Taking over four rooms at Space every Thursday, Hawtin describes ENTER. as ‘a new world, a new experience’ where you may enter as strangers but walk out as friends. With a myriad of different electronic styles from intense techno to minimal to house, with a more atmospheric and ambient feature, in Hawtin’s words it will be ‘a nice new soundtrack for Ibiza.‘ Loaded with artillery of the most exciting names in the electronic world right now and the minimalist maven himself at the helm, ENTER. is poised to be the hottest night on the Ibiza club calendar this season.

IBIZASTYLE_RICHIEHAWTIN-001To name just a few, Dubfire, Magda, Paco Osuna, Gasier and Ambivalent are in place as regulars, with Francois K, Carl Craig, Maya Jane Coles and Josh Wink set to make appearances. Long time friend and collaborator Sven Vath will add to the fusion and up-and-coming synth-pop star Grimes is booked to make her Ibiza debut. As the creator performs alongside some of his closest industry friends, he’s hoping the togetherness of the artists will fuel the experience.

‘You have to have good people and friends around you. If you’re not around with your friends having fun, how can you send that energy to other people to have fun? This is a really important year for Ibiza. The music is bigger than ever and the DJs are bigger than ever and I really feel a nice combination and relationship between everyone and that’s really great for the music and the island.’

For Hawtin, and so many new or returning visitors to the island, Ibiza is about a gathering of different people united by a common goal. ‘This island brings people together from all over the world. As soon as you get off the plane, you enter a whole new reality. Everybody is here to escape and enjoy their time off.’

IBIZASTYLE_RICHIEHAWTIN-003The concept for ENTER. is about concentrating this Ibiza essence, intensifying it with music and technology, celebrating it with sake and creating an intoxicating potion to be shared amongst all those who enter. Another intriguing detail of ENTER. is the presence of Japan’s national tipple, sake. Inspired by Hawtin’s love of Japanese culture, ENTER. Sake will be Ibiza’s first sake bar and the exclusive pre-party venue, with intimate shows by some of the project’s top artists.

‘I’m a big lover and fan of Japan and Japanese culture. I’ve been studying to become a Sake Sommelier. With ENTER. Sake we’ll bring in special drinks and special cocktails and create another atmosphere people haven’t had on the island.’

‘This is what ENTER. is all about. We’re trying to give people a new experience. New music they have never heard before, meet new friends, introduce them to a new drink… We invite people to take the next step, experience new wonderful things and hopefully when you exit you have a memory that is really special.’
