The remodelling of Marina Ibiza – formerly Ibiza Nueva – has also seen a complete redesign of the restaurants, bars and cafés around the harbour.

A particular hot spot – and not simply because of its location – promises to be the News Cafe. Jörg Schlieckriede, who also owns Café Sidney, is full of enthusiasm and tells us all about the new concept. News Cafe will be a stylish modern restaurant serving a fusion of French and Japanese cuisine. It will seat 50 inside and around another 190 outside on the large terrace in front of the restaurant which has fantastic views of the yachts and Dalt Vila.

The focal point of the terrace is its outdoor bar with lounge area, particularly at night when the LED lighting lends the restaurant and bar an exciting, modern ambiance. Jörg is convinced that this new marina, with its emphasis on security and service, will become Ibiza’s flagship location.

Guests will be able to follow the skills of the kitchen crew as they prepare their fabulous creations, presided over by head-chef Benjamin Croquet. An experienced sushi chef, he has previously worked in Paris, London, Barcelona and in the Pacific, Monte Carlo. He has created menus in an amuse-bouche style so that you can put together your own taster menu. The emphasis is on high quality at very reasonable prices. Alongside traditional pinchos, you will also find on the menu lobster, foie gras and Kobe beef specialities. This is complemented by a carefully selected range of wines and champagnes and a wide choice of first-class cocktails at the outdoor bar.
